According to a UN Women report, “as of May 13, 2024, there are 28 countries where 28 women serve as Heads of State and/or Government. At the current pace, gender equality in the highest decision-making spheres will not be achieved for another 130 years.”
It is encouraging that 28 women are leading as Heads of State and/or Government in their countries. This progress demonstrates the growing recognition of female leadership. However, it is concerning that gender equality in top decision-making positions will not be reached for another 130 years. This underscores the urgency of accelerating our efforts toward equality.
As women leaders, it is crucial that we continue supporting each other and strengthening our collaboration networks. At WOB, together, we can overcome existing barriers and pave the way for future generations of women.
Gender equality is not only a matter of justice but also an opportunity to enrich decision-making and promote more inclusive and sustainable development worldwide.
