Tech Report 2025: Only 17% of founders in tech companies in Spain are women

The Informe Nacional de Empresas Tech 2025, is an X-ray of the technological entrepreneurial ecosystem in Spain that cannot be overlooked.

This report was sent to me by a member of WOB, who is also one of those few, one of the 17%. I confess that I am faced with a slight dilemma:
On the one hand, disappointment that things have not yet changed, and on the other, pride in knowing that one of them is part of our community and that I have the privilege of accompanying her in her leadership role.

I can't help but feel proud of the path you have taken and, at the same time, hope that this is not an exception, but rather the beginning of a real trend.

Regarding the report, the most striking finding is not new, but it is persistent: only 17% of founders in the tech sector are women.
And something worrying: the figure has not improved compared to the previous year.

Otros datos clave del informe:
– Women are more likely to start businesses alone than with others, which may reflect lower investor confidence or a lack of a strong support network.
– Its presence in scaleups (technology companies in the scaling phase) is practically negligible.
– The ecosystem continues to reward a specific profile—masculine, traditional, homogeneous—which is perpetuated without question.

It is not about repeating the data, but about thinking collectively about what we can do differently.

What we propose

At WOB, we promote more conscious leadership. Leadership that does not merely occupy space, but transforms it.
Leadership that scales without replicating inequalities, dismantles structural barriers, amplifies female role models, and creates decision-making environments with security, networking, and shared vision.

Because when the environment isn't supportive, your network is everything. And that's what WOB is here for: to ensure that no woman with vision walks alone, even if the statistics say there are few of us.

This report is not the end of a debate. It is an invitation to open it up within our community.

We will review this in upcoming working sessions and local forums, as a starting point for generating concrete proposals based on the collective intelligence of our members.

Because leadership also means taking charge of questions that no one has yet fully answered.
