Beyond Success: Redefining Women’s Leadership to Prevent Burnout at the Top

A few days ago, a colleague from our WOB community sent me an article that had really caught her attention, and I can't stop thinking about how relevant it is for all of us. The article reflects the silent struggle that many professional women face, and I think it's important to share it with you. It talks about that moment when we reach the peak of our careers and, instead of feeling fulfilled, we find ourselves exhausted, searching for a new purpose. I know that many of you have experienced that same pressure, that weariness from responsibility, and that's why I think we need to reflect on it, to continue moving towards a more balanced and humane leadership.
The article I am referring to is “The Ordeal of Female Executives: They Are Burnt Out from So Much Responsibility, but Their Only Way Out Is to Aim Even Higher” by Kiersten Essenpreis for Business Insider. You can read the full article here: https://www.businessinsider.es/calvario-ejecutivas-estan-quemadas-tanta-responsabilidad-pero-unica-salida-apuntar-aun-alto-1404696

The reflection is that, even at the peak of professional success, burnout and lack of purpose can become silent enemies of personal well-being. Female leadership should not only aspire to break the glass ceiling, but also to build a more balanced and sustainable environment, where success does not depend on the constant sacrifice of emotional health.

True transformation comes when women in positions of high responsibility not only challenge the status quo to gain power, but to redefine the concept of success. It's not about doing “everything” or doing it “better” than others; it's about creating spaces where they can lead without losing themselves in the process, and this is precisely what WOB seeks to inspire.
